Bristol scrum-half Shaun Perry missed out on a chance of making his England debut after failing to respond to a late call from coach Andy Robinson. Robinson desperately tried to contact Perry ahead of the game against France as cover for Matt Dawson, who was feeling the effects of an illness.
But as Perry could not be contacted on his mobile until 1100 GMT, Worcester's Andy Gomarsall made the dash to Paris.
In the event, Gomarsall was not needed as Dawson reported fit for the game.
England went onto lose 31-6 against France while Perry played for Bristol in their 21-20 defeat to London Irish.
