Ireland will be very happy; it was an efficient performance in the conditions.

It was a sloppy day but they executed the basics well and Ronan O'Gara kept Scotland pegged back with his kicking to the corners.

If Ireland can get their confidence going you feel they could cut loose but the rain made it that much harder and they were forcing little things.

But it was a fantastic comeback by (man-of-the-match) Paul O'Connell after injury - he probably only made one mistake all day.

It means Ireland can go for the championship and the Triple Crown, which is of huge importance to Ireland, next week.

It is a lovely situation for us.

Scotland won't be too disappointed with the performance but the one area they will be is the line-out - for a fourth match in a row.

(Hooker) Dougie Hall seemed to lose the plot there a while and I thought Scott Lawson should have been brought on earlier.

But captain Jason White was nothing short of outstanding again - he just carried on doing what he has done for the last three matches.

(Former Scotland and Lions coach) Jim Telfer has always said he is the best pound-for-pound tackler he has worked with and he put in some huge hits again.

When your captain is doing that it gives you a huge lift.

Irrespective of this defeat, it has been a great championship for Scotland.

I just worry that it could end on a downward spiral with defeat in Rome.

But if Scotland can iron out their line-out, they can win next week.
