Flanker Schalk Burger has been recalled to South Africa's starting line-up for the Tri-Nations Test against New Zealand in Cape Town on Saturday. Fit-again loose-head prop Os du Randt also returns, while Springbok coach Jake White has brought in Ricky Januarie at scrum-half.
Prop Gurthro Steenkamp, number eight Jacques Cronje and scrum-half Fourie du Preez all drop to the bench.
Joe van Niekerk moves to number eight to make way for Burger's return.
"What this selection says is that we have players that can perform at Test level from within the system and I don't have to worry about making changes," said White.
"Ricky offers us different things and has already done well this year against France and put a lot of pressure on George Gregan in the Mandela Cup - this is an opportunity for him to repeat that performance.
"Os brings us the experience of 55 caps that I think we'll need and Schalk offers a lot more confrontational style at the breakdown."
Defending champions South Africa beat Australia 22-16 in the opening Tri-Nations tie in Pretoria last weekend.
