Corry happy with Dallaglio return

England captain Martin Corry insists he has no problem with former skipper Lawrence Dallaglio's presence in the Six Nations squad.

Dallaglio came off the bench to replace Corry in the second half against Wales and marked his comeback with a try.

"I have no issues - Lawrence is not only a great player, but has also achieved a huge amount," said Corry.

"His profile is going to warrant interest, but speculation's speculation and we have got to treat it as that."

Dallaglio returned to the England fold after 18 months of international retirement, earning a recall after expressing a determination to play Test rugby again.

"What is written (in the media) should have little bearing on what actually happens," added Corry.

England coach Andy Robinson's decision to bring replace Corry with Dallaglio for the final 15 minutes against Wales prompted criticism from Corry's Leicester team-mate, former England prop Graham Rowntree.

Cozza can't be worried about Lawrence being on his shoulder all the time
Graham Rowntree

"It was harsh," Rowntree, a Leicester team-mate of Corry, told BBC Radio Leicester. "'Cozza' has done a hell of a job.

"Andy Robinson could have put Lawrence on at six for Joe Worsley.

"There are not many players who could talk themselves back into the national squad like Lawrence. The scenario with the press almost forced him back."

Robinson made Corry captain for the duration of the Six Nations, and Dallaglio will remain on the bench for Saturday's clash with Italy.

Rowntree, who won the last of his 52 caps against Italy last year, says Corry is still the right man to lead his country.

"He is a natural leader and does the nitty-gritty stuff," added Rowntree. "He doesn't say much, but you don't want someone gobbing off all the time.

"Am I worried for 'Cozza'? I was when Lawrence went on. But if he keeps his head down and does as good a job as he's been doing, he will never worry.

"He is exceptionally mentally strong and can't be worried about Lawrence being on his shoulder all the time. He has to get on with his job and lead his team."
