Robinson was part of the unsuccessful Lions coaching team |
England coach Andy Robinson insists the knowledge he picked up during the Lions' unsuccessful tour of New Zealand will benefit England. Robinson chose to tour with the Lions as forwards coach rather than take England to the Churchill Cup, but he defended his decision.
"I was criticised for coming here, rather than being with the England side in Canada," said Robinson.
"But what I've learnt in New Zealand will benefit England."
The Lions lost the third and final Test 38-19 on Saturday as New Zealand wrapped up the series 3-0.
The All Blacks were a class apart from the Lions, who looked ponderous in comparison, and Robinson said he had taken the lessons on board.
"We need to go home and learn from this," he said.
"We got punished for our mistakes by a very streetwise side, and we needed to be more streetwise ourselves.
"It is often easier to achieve that as a national side that gets much more time together.
"When New Zealand come to Twickenham in the autumn, we know now they are going to be a major enemy of ours heading into the World Cup."
