Johnson says family concerns will decide his future

Wales want him to stay for the 2007 World Cup, but he has been linked with a job in the Australia national set-up and with the coach role at Leicester.

Now the smart money seems to be on him becoming an assistant to John Connolly - favourite to be the next Wallabies coach - after the Six Nations ends.

"It's a delicate area, the appropriate people are informed," said Johnson.

"It involves a few people at home in Australia. I'm not talking about job prospects here, but individuals and family members.

"My decision will be made with their best interests in mind.

"We're in the throes of discussions that should be kept within the family."

Johnson, hugely popular and respected with both the Wales squad and Welsh fans, has been part of the national coaching set-up since February 2001.

He does not have a contract as he prefers to work on a more informal basis.

"I never sign contracts," said Johnson. "I just shake hands and get on with it. That's my mentality, that's my personality and I'd rather do it that way."
