Richie Dixon has been appointed as Scotland's interim director of rugby to replace Ian McGeechan.

The former Scotland B international is currently head of coach development with the governing body after working with Glasgow Rugby.

Dixon has coached Scotland and played for Glasgow and the Barbarians.

Acting SRU chief executive Fred McLeod said: "We expect that a permanent appointment will be made following the SRU agm in June."

The creation of a new board, a new council and the appointments of a new chief executive and new chairman will also take place then.
