Venues guide - Dunedin
CARISBROOK

Carisbrook
Venue capacity: 38,000
Home club: Otago
The city's fans promise not to be welcoming to the Lions - their ground is better known as the "House of Pain".

And Otago have proved that with one of the better records against the tourists, having beaten the Lions five times between 1908 and 1993.

The ground itself came into being in 1881 when it was bought by the Presbyterian Church Board.

Since then, it has undergone a multitude of changes and now houses up to 38,000 fans.

Focus on Dunedin

Dunedin is New Zealand's Scottish city, having been founded in 1848 mostly by arrivals from Midlothian.

As a result, its most popular nickname is "Edinburgh of the south", but others include "Athens of the south".

Nowadays, the only things it shares in common with the Scottish capital are its street names and its Juliet towers.

Dunedin is a big university city - home to New Zealand's first university - and also boasts the country's only castle - Larnach Castle.
