Venues guide - Auckland
EDEN PARK

Eden Park - a multi-sport arena
Venue capacity: 50,000
Home team: Auckland
Eden Park has been home to sport since 1900 and hosted its first rugby international - between New Zealand and South Africa - in 1925.

The 50,000-seater stadium first hosted the Lions there five years later, the All Blacks winning 15-10.

Auckland Rugby has been housed there since 1925, arguably the best provincial side in All Black history.

The Blues have enjoyed Super 12 success and have beaten the Lions five times, including wins in 1983 and 1993.

Focus on Auckland

The "City of Sails" is perhaps best known for all things nautical and has twice hosted the America's Cup - in 1999 and also 2003.

Despite a population of just a million, it is actually bigger than London.

Its residents are made up of 63% of European descent, 13% from the Pacific Islands and 10% Maori.

In the Maori language, it is called Tamaki Makau Rau - the city of 100 lovers - because it was a place desired by all and conquered by many.
