Gavin Henson has needed pain-killing injections |
Wales centre Gavin Henson will not play again for the Ospreys this season in order protect a groin injury ahead of next month's Lions tour. The 23-year-old will miss Saturday's Celtic Cup semi-final with the Scarlets and a potential final a week later.
"I've just had an injection on my groin so I'm struggling with it at the moment," Henson told BBC Wales Sport.
"But hopefully it should be fine for the Lions tour and I just can't wait to get out there."
Henson, who can play fly-half, centre or full-back, missed the Ospreys' Celtic Cup quarter-final win over Ulster on Saturday because of the problem.
He hopes that rest and further treatment will ensure he will be fully fit by the time the Lions leave for New Zealand on 25 May.
"With the Lions tour so close it is a worry, but hopefully everything will come good," he added.
"I've had the problem for seven months now and I've taken the option of having an injection just to see if it will cure it.
"Hopefully it will and I'll be back running again next week."
