Louis Deacon played against the Barbarians last season |
England coach Andy Robinson has made five changes to his side for the clash with Samoa at Twickenham on Saturday. Lock Louis Deacon will make his Test debut in place of Danny Grewcock and Gloucester's James Simpson-Daniel replaces Jamie Noon at outside centre.
Wing Ben Cohen drops out to make way for Tom Voyce of Wasps, scrum-half Harry Ellis replaces Matt Dawson while Matt Stevens starts at prop.
Tom Varndell and Perry Freshwater are set to make their debuts off the bench.
Wasps lock Simon Shaw returns to the bench but Cohen, Phil Vickery, Grewcock and Noon drop out of the 22, as does Mark van Gisbergen.
Robinson has attempted to add some spark to a back-line that failed to shine in the win over Australia and the close defeat to New Zealand.
Voyce and Simpson-Daniel have impressive try-scoring records and should add some attacking flair to the England line-up.
It will be Voyce's fourth cap, but his first at Twickenham while Simpson-Daniel is set to make his eighth appearance.
Simpson-Daniel made his England debut against New Zealand in 2002 but he has been restricted to just six more appearances because of injuries and illness.

"James has very good handling skills, running skills and tremendous pace," said Robinson, in explaining his desire to "look at other options" against Samoa. "We want him to bring his individual talents to the fore on Saturday."
Simpson-Daniel, for his part, admitted it was "a great surprise" to be called up but outlined his determination to take the chance offered to him.
"I am delighted to be back involved with the England squad, no matter what the circumstances, and now the chance is there for me, I am desperate to try and take it," he said.
"I suppose I am under a bit of pressure because the position is fairly new to me.
"But I just have to try and do the best I can, make a contribution to the team and give it everything I have got." Ellis regains the number nine shirt he lost to Dawson for the match with Australia and will be determined to stake his claim for next year's Six Nations.
Varndell, 20, who has clocked 10.8 seconds over 100m, has shot into contention with six tries in seven Premiership matches this season.
In the pack, there are only two changes from the unit that has performed so impressively in the past fortnight.
Deacon, who played against Canada and Argentina in this year's Churchill Cup, has been rewarded for some impressive displays for the Tigers this season.
The 25-year-old played for the same Wigston club as England's World Cup-winning captain Martin Johnson.
There is also another chance for Stevens, who replaces Vickery.
Stevens made his debut for England last summer on the tour to New Zealand and Australia and started three games in the 2005 Six Nations.
