Thomas Castaignede will switch to full-back in place of the injured Julien Laharrague when France face South Africa on Saturday. Coach Bernard Laporte has made nine changes from the team that hammered Tonga 43-8 at the weekend.
Julien Bonnaire is at number eight while Castaignede, centre against Tonga, reverts to his club position.
Laporte said: "He was very convincing against Tonga and saved the selectors a lot of time and discussion."
Bonnaire is preferred to Thomas Lievremont in the only other change to the line-up France fielded in their win over Australia three weeks ago.
After missing the Australia Test because of suspension, Bonnaire played blind-side flanker in the wins over Canada and Tonga.
Fabien Pelous, serving a nine-week ban for elbowing Australia hooker Brendan Cannon, is replaced by Lionel Nallet - preferred to Gregory Lamboley - while fellow lock Jerome Thion will captain the team.
Scrum-half Jean-Baptiste Elissalde and fly-half Frederic Michalak replace Dimitri Yachvili and Yann Delaigue respectively.
Prop Pieter De Villiers steps in for Stade Francais team-mate Sylvain Marconnet, with hooker Dimitri Szarzewski replacing former skipper Raphael Ibanez.
The French drew 30-30 with South Africa on 18 June in Durban. The Springboks defeated them 27-13 a week later in Port Elizabeth.
