Scotland coach Matt Williams was left to rue more poor defensive work after losing out to England at Twickenham. He said: "I thought it was a fantastic game of rugby, two sides trained to play a very attractive form of rugby.
"I thought we played some excellent rugby but we are missing the tackles. It's a problem we have to work on.
"I was pleased about the way we came back and played some running rugby after letting in some soft tries. I'm proud of this team's effort."
Scotland have won just once in two Six Nations campaigns under Williams.
Poor tackling gifted the English their opening two of seven tries and the Scots looked rudderless for most of the first half.
But a try in the last minute before the interval inspired Williams' men to a much-improved second-half display - when two more tries were added.
It was a similar story last weekend when Wales raced into a huge early lead and Scotland rallied to save face.
But Williams came to the defence of his players and said: "Only five teams have ever come down here (Twickenham) and won.
"There were times we tackled and defended very well but there were times when we had the players there and they fell off."
