Two posts have been created to cover Andy Hore's departure
Huw Wiltshire has been named as the Welsh Rugby Union's new national fitness director.

The position is one of two created to fill the hole left by fitness coach Andy Hore's return to New Zealand.

A national conditioning coach, who will be involved with the day-to-day fitness of the Wales team, has yet to be named.

Wiltshire has previously worked with Wales A and the Cardiff Blues and is now senior lecturer in sports science at Cardiff-based university UWIC.

He has had spells as fitness coach with Pontypridd and Bridgend, and worked with the national squad between 1996 and 2000.

"The national fitness director will affect all areas of the game, from the community to the national team," said WRU High Performance Manager Mostyn Richards.

"Huw will now be instrumental in the appointment of a national fitness coach, who will have the responsibility for the fitness of the national squad players."
