Frank Hadden is presently coach of Edinburgh Gunners |
Scottish Rugby president Andy Irvine says it is a straight choice between Frank Hadden and Steve Bates for the national coach's job. Glasgow coach Hugh Campbell withdrew from the process, leaving Border Reivers' Bates and Edinburgh Gunners' Hadden to be be interviewed on Monday.
Irvine told the Press & Journal: "Both interviewed extremely well and we will meet again to discuss the next step."
BBC Sport believes that Hadden is the strong favourite for the job.
Hadden was in interim charge of Scotland for the games against the Barbarians and Romania.
"It has been well documented that Hugh Campbell, the Glasgow coach, has withdrawn from the interview process and it will be a straight choice between Frank and Steve," said Irvine.
"People will assume Frank is the front-runner as he was in interim charge.
"But, let's be realistic, the Barbarians team we beat was anything but a world-class side and the autumn Tests against Argentina, Samoa and the All Blacks will be a completely different proposition.
"The one thing Frank does have in his favour is he has worked with all the players already and they have all said the feel-good factor he brought to the squad made a huge difference."
