Australia captain George Gregan insists he will not step down and is available for the Wallabies' European tour. Gregan equalled Jason Leonard's world record of 114 caps in Saturday's Tri-Nations defeat to New Zealand, but has come under severe recent criticism.
"I've got two weeks of active recovery now so I'm ready for our pre-season before we head over," he said.
"I'll use that to have a mental break. I can't control what comes between now and then, but I can control my rest."
Australia coach Eddie Jones has long-time understudy Chris Whitaker and Matt Henjak - sent home early from South Africa for an incident in a night club - as alternatives to Gregan.
Jones was not prepared to confirm Gregan's selection for the tour, featuring Tests with England, Ireland and Wales, saying only he remained in contention for the 30-man squad.
"We've got a selection meeting on Wednesday week, and George is like any other player," Jones aid.
"His selection is assessable by form, but we're certainly very positive about it."
