Wales coach Mike Ruddock is on the verge of signing a contract extension. Ruddock's two-year deal expires at the end of the 2006 Six Nations but the Welsh Rugby Union wants the Grand Slam-winning coach to lead Wales beyond the 2007 World Cup.
WRU group chief executive David Moffett told BBC Wales Sport: "We've got a really good management team at the moment that's in tune with the players.
"That team is something we want to have continuity with and the deal is close."
Ruddock, with assistants Scott Johnson and Mike Griffiths, has led Wales to 11 wins and just four defeats since his first game in May last year.
The former Dragons and Swansea coach is looking for a replacement for conditioning coach Andrew Hore who will leave after the autumn international to take up a post working with the New Zealand Rugby Union's 14 rugby academies.
