Betsen may miss Six Nations ties
Serge Betsen in action for France
Biarritz and France flanker Serge Betsen could miss the opening RBS Six Nations games against Scotland and England with a torn thigh muscle.

He will definitely miss the game with Scotland, in Paris on 5 February, after suffering the injury in training.

"I should have followed my feelings and not released him for the session," said Biarritz coach Patrice Lagisquet.

He may have been suspended for the ties anyway, having been cited after his club's Heineken Cup game with Wasps.

England and Wasps player Stuart Abbott was left with a broken leg after being tripped by Betsen during Biarritz's 18-15 win last weekend, which Betsen insisted was accidental.

He had already complained of having felt "burnt out" before the national team get-together, but French team manager Jo Maso defended the training camp at such a busy point in the season.

"You have to do it some time," he said.

"We're not going to run tests a week before the Scotland match."
