Lions ratings v Southland | How did the Lions rate against Southland? Geordan Murphy: Always adds an attacking dimension coming into line, but played overly fast and loose and often played team-mates into trouble.
Mark Cueto: It is white and oval shaped. Someone will have to tell the winger just that as he did not see enough of the ball to know or make an impact.
Ollie Smith: Yet to hit his stride on tour and was one of the main culprits in squandering ball, which he treated like the proverbial bar of soap.
Gavin Henson: Bounced back from the disappointment of missing out on the Test with aplomb. Two tries and a strong all-round game.
Denis Hickie: Key in setting up the first try and proved an elusive runner, although found himself running up too many blind alleys on the touchline.
Ronan O'Gara: Started well but caught the jitters from the rest of his team and his execution and tactical play tailed off as time progressed.
Gareth Cooper: The Welshman has to make the most of his limited opportunities as the fourth-choice scrum-half on tour. He did not.
Matt Stevens: The problem with wearing a blue scrum-cap is you are very conspicuous. The Bath prop failed to shine and left the action at the break.
John Hayes: Full of grit and grunt up front in the first-half but fell off the pace in the second and laboured to reach the breakdown and add ballast.
Andy Titterrell: All-action around the park, but all too often took his eye off the basics with some loose line-out throwing and was pulled off early.
Simon Shaw: Typically strong and uncompromising but will have to buy the pack a few beers after being pinged when the forwards were lining up a try.
Donncha O'Callaghan: One of the few players to come out of the game with credit. Always up with play and an imposing presence at the line-out.
Lewis Moody: Back from injury and back to the fore in typical fashion around the paddock. Also proved a useful option at the line-out.
Martyn Williams: The oil that greased the mis-firing Lions machine, linking play as best he could. Fourth game on tour and still full of gas.
Michael Owen: Back after trip home for the birth of his second child but off the pace. Jet-lagged? Maybe. Dropping down the pecking order? Definitely.
Replacements: Andy Sheridan (Replaced Stevens - 40 mins): Powerful presence around the park with a number of productive runs at the heart of the opposition.
Gordon Bulloch (Replaced Titterrell - 48 mins): Bulloch by name, bullocking by nature. Strong running and good basics helped the Lions hold off Southland.
Chris Cusiter (Replaced Cooper - 48 mins): The backs enjoyed better service with the Scotsman at nine, but even his cameo was scruffy.
Tom Shanklin (Replaced Smith 48 mins): Added energy to the backs, was always a willing carrier and linked well with Henson in midfield.
Simon Easterby (Replaced Owen - 64 mins): Has had a good tour but even he could not lift this mediocre performance as a late arrival.
Gordon D'Arcy (Replaced Murphy - 75 mins): Slipped in at full-back but saw none of the ball.
