Skipper Amor ruled out of Sevens

Amor celebrates after beating Fiji in the final of the Dubai Sevens
England sevens captain Simon Amor has been ruled out of the South Africa Sevens in George this weekend.

The Gloucester scrum-half injured his shoulder in the final of the Dubai Sevens against Fiji last week which England won 26-21.

Ugo Monye is also out and Ben Gollings and Richard Haughton have been drafted into the squad as replacements.

Pat Sanderson is unavailable after being suspended for striking an opponent in the Wasps game.

London Irish's Tony Roques takes over the captaincy in Amor's absence.


England squad: G Appleford (London Irish), O Phillips (Newcastle) , B Gollings (unattached), R Haughton (Saracens), K Horstmann (Harlequins), P Richards (Wasps), T Roques (London Irish, capt), P Sampson (Worcester), N Starling (Northampton), M Tait (Newcastle), R Thirlby (Penzance & Newlyn).
