Robinson is relaxed in Auckland |
Jason Robinson hopes to make a "big impact" on the Lions tour now he and Gareth Thomas have joined the squad. Robinson delayed his journey to be with his pregnant wife but does not feel his decision will affect his Test hopes.
"I don't think it will have any bearing on selection," he said. "But we know there will be tough competition.
"Josh Lewsey had a great game against the Bay of Plenty and Geordan Murphy played well against Taranaki, but it will bring the best out of all of us."
Robinson and Thomas are both likely to start against Wellington next Tuesday as the selectors ponder their options for the first Test in Christchurch on 25 June. The Welshman, whose Toulouse side were beaten in the French Championship semi-finals by Stade Francais at the weekend, declared himself unworried about having to catch up with training.
"It has been a benefit to be playing regularly right up until I left," he said. "I know I am coming over here with my match fitness already there.
"I'm not a big fan of training at all. I go to training on a Monday morning because I know I have a game on the weekend. I only do it for the games."
