| How did the Lions rate in their win over Taranaki?Geordan Murphy: Missed one high ball in defence but showed his class in attack with two well-taken tries and created another for Horgan. Shane Horgan: A nervy start, but showed his power as match wore on, scoring one try and creating Murphy's second by claiming Hodgson's cross-kick. Will Greenwood: Struggled to assert authority in first half but improved in second. Nearly scored with charge-down before his burst led to Horgan's try. Ollie Smith: Made a few surging runs when he received the ball in space and solid in defence, but not enough to press for a Test place at this stage.
Denis Hickie: Counter-attacked well when he ran across his own 22 to set up a great move, and looked sharp with ball in hand. Solid outing.
Charlie Hodgson - 9: STAR MAN. Laid down a marker with an outstanding display. Kicked superbly from hand, involved in every try and only missed two kicks at goal from out wide in eight attempts. Chris Cusiter: Sharp and incisive throughout and formed a lively half-back partnership with Hodgson. Only black mark a woeful high pass over Hodgson's head that put the Lions in trouble.
Graham Rowntree: Dependable performer who battled well and kept his end up in the scrummage, without pulling up any trees.
Andy Titterrell: Line-out throwing was erratic and inconspicuous in the loose, his usual forte. Struggled against experienced opponent Andrew Hore.
John Hayes: Another disappointing show from the Irishman, who struggled in the scrum and was replaced by Gethin Jenkins early in the second half.
Donncha O'Callaghan: Effective in the line-out and a calming influence in tight exchanges, where he imposed himself well. Not to be discounted for Tests.
Danny Grewcock: Worked hard but indiscipline surfaced again in punch-up with Paul Tito, and conceded a penalty on the ground. Martin Corry (capt): Solid, consistent and provided calm leadership, doing well to finish off crucial try and turn the tide in the second half.
Lewis Moody: Energetic and prominent in the loose, quick to the breakdown and effective at close quarters. Did his Test chances no harm.
Michael Owen: Made a strong claim for Test shirt vacated by Lawrence Dallaglio with an all-action display, showing full range of footballing skills, evidenced with pass for Murphy's first try.
Replacements: Gethin Jenkins (Replaced Hayes 49 minutes): Steadied the scrum when he came on for the ineffective Hayes.
Shane Byrne (Replaced Titterrell 66 minutes): Line-out throwing an improvement on Titterrell's, but little elsewhere.
Gareth Cooper (Replaced Cusiter 76 mins): Didn't really have enough time to make an impression on the game.
