Robinson knows there are bigger challenges ahead |
Hat-trick hero Jason Robinson refused to get carried away after his first game as England captain resulted in a 70-0 hammering of Canada. "To score 70 points and to concede none was certainly our target. We are happy with the win and we now need to move on," said Robinson.
"The effort this week has been great and we played some good rugby today.
"We won't get carried away. We know we have some tough games coming up but it was a job well done."
Robinson, who was captaining in place of the injured Jonny Wilkinson, was pleased the team shook off a slow start to turn in a fine performance.
"In games like this you are always going to get a few mistakes and early doors there were too many, but we composed ourselves and when we got the ball out wide we scored some good tries," the full-back said.
"It's great to be captain, score three and for the team to play like that is great.
"It's different opposition next week and we are expecting a very tough game against South Africa."
Coach Andy Robinson was pleased with the performance of the team in his first game in charge of England.
"I'd probably give that an eight out of 10," he said. "It was a really good start with some improvements to make.
"Some of the execution just before half-time and after was very, very good and Charlie Hodgson really took a grip of the game.
"We thought we would make a few mistakes. Errors are going to come in the contact area but there were also some great passages of play. "I thought Jason had a tremendous game, he is inspirational the way he played and I thought Lewis Moody was on a par with him."
