Wales coach Mike Ruddock admitted that Tom Shanklin's display against Romania had put him into contention to play against the All Blacks next week. The Cardiff Blues centre equalled the Welsh record by running in four of his side's 10-try haul in the 66-7 victory.
"Tom is right in there for a shout next week," said Ruddock.
"We will now have an interesting selection meeting because there are a lot of close calls. I'm looking forward to the All Blacks game immensely."
Ruddock added: "I thought Luke Charteris had a great full debut, he took some quality line-out ball and made some big tackles.
"He has put himself in the hunt, as have a lot of players. What I am trying to get is confidence, cohesion and a settled 22.
"Hopefully, next week, it will give us a measure of where we are."
