Robinson is the latest name to be linked with the captaincy |
Sale director of coaching Philippe Saint-Andre has backed Sharks ace Jason Robinson to become England captain for next week's Test against Canada. Coach Andy Robinson will name a new skipper on Monday after Jonny Wilkinson was ruled out with an arm injury.
"I think Jason would do a good job as captain," Saint-Andre told BBC Radio Four's Today programme.
"It is the decision of the coach but Jason is mature, has a lot of charisma and is the man for the job."
Robinson has been one of England's key players since switching from rugby league four years ago.
Bath centre Mike Tindall is the favourite to take the job with Steve Borthwick and Will Greenwood in the running.
