South Africa captain John Smit was pleased after a 53-18 win over Wales in Pretoria completed a hat-trick of wins over northern hemisphere teams. The seven-try win was preceded by two Test victories over a touring Ireland and leaves the Boks in good heart for the forthcoming Tri-Nations.
"We can take heart from our victories, the tight five performed well and set the platform for victory," Smit said.
"I'm happy because we have continued to improve with each Test."
South Africa were always in control, dominating physically and looking dangerous out wide thanks to a pacy backline.
But despite the margin of victory, Smit paid credit to a gutsy Wales performance after the visitors hit back with two tries of their own.
"It was not as easy as the scoreline suggests," Smit added. "Wales put up a big fight, although the altitude got to them in the closing stages."
Springbok coach Jake White was also satisfied with the victory but felt that his side had still made too many mistakes.
"I suppose when you win a Test match by 50 points, you should enjoy it a lot more," said White.
"But the feeling in the changing room is that we spilled the ball too much and we rushed it a lot.
"But we are definitely where we wanted to be after this Test series.
"Our first mission was to win the Test matches against Wales and Ireland and we have achieved that.
"There are some players who weren't here today for us who will be back for the Tri Nations and with a bit of tweaking, we should be ready to take on the Wallabies and All Blacks."
