England make a late change with Bath number 10 Olly Barkley replacing Wasps flyer Tom Voyce on the bench. Coach Clive Woodward said the move was due to the wet conditions.
"We knew it would be wet but didn't realise it would be quite like this," he said. "So we thought we needed another kicker on the bench."
Elsewhere for England, Mike Catt will start his first Test since the World Cup semi-final against France and will start alongside returning fly-half Charlie Hodgson.
Flanker Jono Gibbes is the only new cap in New Zealand's team.
Gibbes takes over on the blindside from deposed captain Reuben Thorne, with Jerry Collins dropped in favour of Xavier Rush at number eight.
