England won the inaugural Churchill Cup last year |
Former Sale coaching team Jim Mallinder and Steve Diamond have been given the job of preparing England for this summer's Churchill Cup in Canada. Since the pair led England to victory at last year's tournament, Diamond has left Sale for Saracens.
"They are two of our up-and-coming coaches, and have shown they can get the best of elite players," said RFU performance director Chris Spice.
The Churchill Cup, which this year also stars New Zealand, begins on 12 June.
The tournament, which is held in Calgary and Edmonton, also features the USA and Canada with the final to be held on 19 June.
"I am looking forward to working with Steve again - we know how each other operates from our time together at Sale," said Mallinder.
"It is going to be hard work, especially with the inclusion of the New Zealand Maori, but we will relish the challenge."
England's squad for the Churchill Cup will be announced next month.
