Rogers upbeat over return
Mat Rogers
Former league star Rogers will be out for at least five months
Wallabies full-back Mat Rogers hopes to play before the end of the year despite having a screw inserted in his ankle.

The 28-year-old needed surgery after aggravating an injury during the Waratah's recent Super 12 loss to Northern Bulls.

"I haven't written off playing rugby this year," Rogers said on Wednesday, a day after undergoing surgery.

"There's obviously still club rugby and I want to try to get myself right and get back out there as soon as I can."

Rogers will miss the rest of the Super 12 series as well as Australia's Tests against Scotland and England in June and the Tri-Nations series against New Zealand and South Africa in July and August.
