Wales wing Rhys Williams says the RBS Six Nations win over Scotland was just reward for all his side's hard work. "There was a lot of hype about this game and it was just good to get a win," said Williams after his man-of-the-match two-try performance.
"You could feel the expectation so it was important to get a good start.
"It was a great performance by the whole team - we show aspects of that all the time so it was nice just to finish those off."
The Blues flyer scored Wales' first try after just three minutes, giving the home side the confidence to play some expansive attacking rugby.
Prop Adam Jones went over 10 minutes later, while Stephen Jones added a conversion and two penalties to give Wales a handy 18-3 lead at the break.
Williams added his second try soon after the restart, while Scotland were limited to Simon Taylor's converted injury-time consolation and a Chris Paterson drop-goal.
Wales coach Steve Hansen was frustrated that his side was not as effective after the break.
"We got away to a good start but the second half was a bit scrappy really," said Hansen.
"In the second half we lost our shape and our line out but that is credit to Scotland. We could have scored a couple more tries with bit more composure."
The veteran Gareth Thomas thought he had equalled Ieuan Evans' 33-try record for Wales but was pulled back for crossing.
"I was a bit gutted, but I've said all along with this record thing that it's whether we win that's important," Thomas said.
"I'm so pleased we've won regardless of who scored - Rhys deserved his tries, he had a great game and we've taken a bit of pressure off ourselves."
