Scott Gibbs has been a fantastic player in both rugby union and rugby league. As I was just starting to come through he was really established in rugby league and I was lucky enough to play with him in a World Cup.
He was a fantastic league player; strong, aggressive - he had everything needed to be a top-class league player.
He was amazing to play with and tough to play against, then when he came back to rugby union he continued to be a fantastic player.
He scored that superb try against England at Wembley in 1999 to win the game and that's probably what he's most remembered for.
But if I had to remember him for one thing, it would be as the ultimate professional.
He's been amazing in his training, he's remained so strong and really he's going to go down in my book as one of the ultimate professionals.
Whenever he's been asked to perform he's done it, whether it was with Wales, the Lions, St Helens or one of his clubs in union.
When he retired from international rugby in 2001 it was a huge loss to the Wales team and I'm sure he will be a huge loss to Welsh rugby.
It's sad to see him retire but I'm sure he's making the right decision for the right reasons.
