Wales have named an inexperienced side to face Romania in Wednesday's World Cup warm-up match. With the game sandwiched between games against England and Scotland, coach Steve Hansen has had little choice but to field an experimental team.
Newport Gwent Dragons wing Nathan Brew, Llanelli Scarlets scrum-half Mike Phillips, Neath-Swansea Ospreys prop Paul James and Celtic Warriors lock Brent Cockbain will make their Test debuts in Wrexham.
Cockbain, whose brother Matt is a Wallaby international, has completed a three-year residential qualification after moving to Pontypridd from London Irish.
Celtic Warriors hooker Mefin Davies will captain the side which will be coached by Mike Ruddock.
Said Hansen: "We've told the players involved in this game that they are as eligible to go to the World Cup as anyone else.
"I expect the side to perform. It is a great opportunity for them to go out and show what they are made of."
Wales will field their first-choice XV in Saturday's Test against England at the Millennium Stadium.
