Argentina 49-30 Fiji

Argentina began their World Cup preparations in style, by running in seven tries over Fiji on Monday.

In a towering display of forward power, five of the Pumas' tries came from the pack with two each for props Rodrigo Roncero and Martin Scelzo with flanker Martin Durand adding another.

Full-back Bernando Stortoni and fly-half Fernandez Miranda, who added 14 points with the boot, also touched down.

With World Cup certainties such as Agustin Pichot on the bench, Argentine coach Marcelo Loffreda gave a number of players their chance to stake a claim for the finals.

Argentina took the lead through Scelzo and Roncero added a second 10 minutes later.

Fiji got on the board with a 15th minute Nicky Little penalty before back-rower Sisa Koyamaibole scored his team's opening try after being set up by a storming run by full-back Norman Ligairi.

Little's conversion and 25th minute penalty put Fiji in front for the first and only time.

Minutes later Stortoni finished off a superb move and Scelzo claimed his second try before the break.

The Fijians stayed in touch when Tuilevu crossed but any hope they had of victory disappeared early in the second half when number eight Alifereti Mocelutu was ordered off for stamping.

Further touchdowns from Roncero, Fernandez Miranda and Martin Durand ultimately sealed a comprehensive victory, despite a late consolation try from winger Sekove Leawere.
