Second half

80 mins: The Wallabies have one final shot at glory with a scrum in their own half but a knock-on ensures the All Blacks win the Bledisloe Cup.

75 mins: Flatley fails to convert and Australia still need a try to record a victory.

73 mins: The Wallabies finally make the crucial breakthrough. Smith shows wonderful hands to take a Gregan pass on the overlap and storms to try line.

70 mins Australia are now throwing everything at the All Blacks with captain Gregan urging his troops towards the try line. However, New Zealand's resolute defence is just too strong.

66 mins: Larkham makes way for ACT Brumbies teammate Matt Giteau.

62 mins: Spencer reaffirms New Zealand's control of the match, sending another inch perfect penalty sailing between the posts.

59 mins: The Wallabies' pressure is finally rewarded as Flatley scores a penalty. They are desperately trying to get back into this game, having had 53% of the possession in the game.

57 mins: Stephen Larkham is inches away from scoring Australia's first try but is deemed not to have carried the ball over the line.

54 mins The game begins to get a bit scrappy as Australia try to haul themselves back into contention. The Wallabies are doing all the probing but struggle to get past the disciplined All Black rearguard.

47 mins: Spencer doesn't let the rain dampen his spirits and strokes another long range penalty between the posts.

46 mins: As the rain starts to come down, Muliaina is forced to come off after pulling a muscle in his leg. Leon MacDonald comes on to replace him.

44 mins: Muliaina puts his blistering pace to full use, racing down the right wing leaving George Smith and in his wake. However, at the vital moment he kicks too far and loses possession.

41mins: Australia, who replaced prop Glenn Panoho before the break to give Alistair Baxter his first Test cap, bring on Matt Burke with Wendell Sailor staying off the field.


First half

40 mins: The All Blacks have a try disallowed as Chris Jack is deemed not to have control of the ball. Seconds later the whistle is blown on what has been an enthralling first half.

35 mins: The unshakable Spencer sends another penalty between the posts as New Zealand move six points ahead.

32 mins: Howlett's pace is beginning to cause Australia problems and only a misplaced pass denies them another breakaway try.

29 mins: Flatley fails to convert as his shot crashes against the post.

28 mins: New Zealand bounce back from Flatley's missed penalty immediately. Spencer sends a looping kick over the top and Howlett outpaces Flatley to put the All Blacks back in front.

22 mins: Flatley thumps another penalty between the posts to put Australia ahead after a spell of contant pressure from the Wallabies.

20 mins: As Australia push on in search of their first try of the game, George Smith's mazy run towards the line is somehow halted by Reuben Thorne.

16 mins: Australia are trying to exploit New Zealand through their huge winger Wendell Sailor.

12 mins: Flatley continues his superb form of late, sending a penalty between the posts to bring Australia back into the game.

5 mins: New Zealand respond immediately with a sensational try scored by Doug Howlett after great work from Mils Muliaina. Carlos Spencer strokes it between the posts.

2 mins:: Elton Flatley converts the resulting penalty to give Australia the perfect start.

1 min: The game gets underway and the All Blacks are immediately penalised for killing the ball in a kickable position.
