Turinui has enjoyed a superb first season in senior rugby |
Australia centre Morgan Turinui has been passed fit to make his Test debut in Saturday's one-off Test against Ireland. The Wallabies are missing nine players through injury and named the 21-year-old Turinui in an experimental side to take on the Irish in Perth.
But the New South Wales Waratahs star strained an abdominal muscle during a gym session on Tuesday.
Speaking on Wednesday, a relieved Australia coach Eddie Jones said: "Morgan trained extremely well today so we believe there's no need for (stand-by) Mat Rogers to travel to Perth.
"Mat will be better served by playing a full game (in Sydney club rugby) this weekend."

Playing alongside Turinui on Saturday will be Queensland's 23-year-old centre Steve Kefu, who has only one Test cap. And on the bench will be uncapped former rugby league international Lote Tuqiri.
Turinui's recovery from injury caps a remarkable few months for the talented runner, who only started playing Super 12 rugby for the Waratahs this year.
Wallabies coach Eddie Jones said he had no fears about picking such an inexperienced team.
"It's a big challenge for both of them (Turinui and Kefu) but they have mature heads on their very young shoulders and we're pretty excited about seeing them play," he said.
Another former rugby league international, Wendell Sailor, was named on the right wing by the world champions after playing six Tests in his debut season in 2002. Ireland, who have also been hit hard by injuries, named their team later on Tuesday.
