Rudolf Straeuli wants a big response from his players |
South Africa coach Rudolf Straeuli is aiming for a reversal of fortunes when Scotland arrive in Durban on Saturday. The Scots, who will play two Tests against the Springboks, won 21-6 the last time the teams met in Edinburgh in November.
It was South Africa's first loss to Scotland since 1969 and came on tour when they were also beaten by France and England.
Straeuli, who has seen his side slump to fifth in the world rankings, has a more experienced squad at his disposal this time and has promised an improved performance.
"We took a very young side and we had a lot of players out with injuries," said Straeuli.
"We didn't play the right kind of gameplan under those conditions.
"Fortunately we're at home now, and we see it in a totally different light - different players, different personnel, different coaching personnel. "For me, it's not about revenge.
"The scoreboard is 0-0. We know where Scotland are strong.
"This is the first Test, so let's make sure we do the small things right.
"Discipline, on and off the field, is vital as is doing the basics effectively and focusing on each individual's primary job.
"We need to start well as we build up towards the World Cup."
