Delport in action for Gloucester |
Gloucester full-back Thinus Delport will be available for South Africa's World Cup campaign. The announcement came after the Zurich Premiership club and South African rugby agreed a loan arrangement for the remainder of the year.
Delport will arrive in South Africa later in the week and will play for the Falcons in the Currie Cup play-offs.
He has also been selected in the South Africa A side to play Argentina in Wellington later this month.
Springboks coach Rudolf Straeuli said he was delighted at Delport's return.
"Both SA Rugby and Gloucester have acted in the interests of the player," Straeuli said.
"It is a great opportunity for Thinus. He has played well for Gloucester this year and he provides depth to the full-back and wing positions.
Delport, who joined Gloucester in 2002, has played 12 Test matches for his country.
He said: "A few months ago I would not have believed this to be possible.
"I will always be indebted to Gloucester for the opportunity of reviving my career and thank them for agreeing to a loan in this World Cup year."
