Scotland played down the significance of their 30-22 win over Wales in the RBS Six Nations at Murrayfield. The game was billed as a wooden-spoon decider with both teams going in on the back of two straight defeats.
Scotland skipper Bryan Redpath, while relieved to have secured his country's first two points of the campaign, was keen to keep his feet on the ground.
"We're not going to get carried away because there were still a lot of mistakes," he told BBC Sport.
"It's definitely a plus for us but I don't know if it is a turning point.
"We were under massive pressure and we're delighted to get the victory.
Our defence was really tested |
"All credit to us - we had to battle it out - it's a real step in the right direction."
Scotland's man of the match Jason White said the side could take a lot of positives out of the game, but cautioned that they would have to raise their game for their next game - against England at Twickenham on 22 March.
"We're just delighted to win it," the flanker said.
"It was a superb performance from the team.
"Both teams played well - we saw Wales keeping the ball and our defence being really tested.
"We've got a very tough game coming up against England - they're formidable on their own patch."
