Jones has made a swift recovery from his thumb injury |
Fly-half Stephen Jones has recovered from his broken thumb and will be fit for Wales' next match in Scotland on Saturday, 8 March. The Llanelli man had the plaster removed on Wednesday, has rejoined the Wales squad, and will resume full training by the end of the week.
Ceri Sweeney enjoyed a fine full debut in the position against England, but he is not a regular goal kicker and Wales coach Steve Hansen sees Jones as one of the leaders in his team.
Iestyn Harris, who was fly-half for Wales' opening Six Nations game in Italy and came off the bench against England, has been cleared to play for Cardiff on the weekend. Rhys Williams and Tom Shanklin are both expected to recover from leg injuries sustained against England in time for the Scotland match.
Llanelli wing Mark Jones, who was concussed in the game in Rome, will have completed his mandatory rest period by 8 March. He will be monitored over the course of the next week to determine whether he is fit enough for selection.
Bath duo Gareth Cooper and Gavin Thomas and Saracens centre Shanklin will miss Saturday's Zurich Premiership encounter between the clubs after they were retained on Wales duty ahead of the Scotland game.
But Bath hooker Jonathan Humphreys will be available for his club after making it a stipulation of his international return that it did not interfere with his club duties. Swansea will be without Wales squad members Kevin Morgan, Mark Taylor, Ben Evans and Colin Charvis for their match against Ebbw Vale on Saturday.
