Wasps celebrate their victory at Twickenham in 2004 |
The 2007 Heineken Cup final will be staged at Twickenham, the third time English rugby headquarters will host Europe's showpiece club occasion. Wasps won the last Twickenham final in 2004, an epic last-minute victory over French aristocrats Toulouse.
Northampton also won on 'home' soil in 2000 when they pipped Munster.
The Irish province will contest their third final this year, having lost both previous times, when they meet Biarritz at the Millennium Stadium on 20 May.
Next year's final will be on the weekend of 19/20 May 2007, and could break the record crowd for the competition at the newly-completed 82,000 capacity Twickenham.
The 2000 final was played in front of a then-record Heineken Cup crowd of 68,441.
The current record stands at 74,600, when Leicester beat Munster at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium in 2002.
