BBC Sport Online rounds up Saturday's Parker Pen Shield action

Full-back Gareth Cull starred in a sensational Ebbw Vale display as the Welsh side ran in nine tries against Agen to qualify for the Parker Pen Shield quarter finals.

Vale overran the Pool One leaders in a rampant 59-10 victory at Eugene Cross Park to overtake them in the race for the last eight.

Cull was the local hero as he garnered a solo haul of 24 points with two tries, four conversions and two penalties.

Agen were swept aside by the passion of Vale's play as the home side roared into a 44-0 lead by half-time.

There were also tries for Welsh international prop Iestyn Thomas and Tongan flanker Kati Tuipolotu.

Pontypridd also progressed to the quarter-finals after beating Breziers 41-8 with a convincing display in Pool Three.

Ebbw Vale's Gareth Cull
Wings Gareth Wyatt and Richard Johnston and fly half Ceri Sweeney, after a superb move, all scored tries in the first half as the Welsh side led 31-3 at the interval.

Number eight Michael Owen added a fourth try in the closing stages while Breziers hooker Brice Miguel was sent off in the final quarter after a second yellow card.

But joy for Ebbw Vale and Pontypridd was in stark contrast to the misery of Neath, who crashed 33-26 at bottom club Viadana in Pool Five to almost certainly exit the competition.

Close rivals Bristol, who are level with Neath on points, are expected to clinch the group when they entertain French side Bourgoin on Sunday.

Viadana took the game to Neath and were home and dry midway through the second half before the Welshmen made a belated fightback.

Centre Ryan Pickering raced over for two of the home side's three tries while Ray McDonald slotted over three conversions and three penalties.

Neath's James Storey went over for a try and the visitors ran in three late scores through Gareth Morris, Kevin James and Shaun Connor - but it was too little, too late.

Caerphilly edged home 31-30 against Gran Parma in Pool 7. The Italians led 15-10 at half-time but Caerphilly came back strongly after the break and won the try count 4-3.

Luke Richards was Caerphilly's man-of-the-match with a try, two conversions, three penalties and a drop goal for a match haul of 21 points.

Pau clinched top spot in Pool 2, maintaining their unbeaten record as they beat Petrarca 28-19.

Their sixth straight win included tries from Laurent Arbo, Thomas Sanchou and Arnaud Racine.

Stunning

England will also be well represented in the quarter finals.

Sale Sharks marched into the last eight with a crushing 62-17 win over Roma Olympic on Saturday.

The English side ran in a stunning 10 tries in a one-sided contest to top Pool 4 and secure a home tie in the next round.

Mel Dean, Apollo Perelini and Chris Jones all bagged a brace of tries to sink a poor Italian side who have failed to pick up a single point during qualification.

Saracens also confirmed their place in the quarter finals with an excellent 25-24 victory over Bordeaux-Begles in south-west France to clinch top spot in Pool Eight.
