Bath continued their unbeaten record Premiership against Exeter
Exeter fell to a first Premiership defeat of the season despite a late rally at Bath.
Bath centre Dan Hipkiss lit up a scrappy first half when he sprinted over from 50 metres.
Bath looked to have made sure of the win when Nathan Catt was adjudged to have touched down after video replays.
But courageous Exeter never gave up and forced a penalty try in the dying seconds to claim a point and leave the nervy hosts hanging on for the whistle.
POST-MATCH VIEWS
Exeter head coach Rob Baxter told BBC Radio Devon:
"I think the key to a decent Premiership season, as we know from last year, is you've just got to fight for points everywhere you can.
"We've got a losing bonus point, we're ticking along, we're in our second year of the Premiership, let's keep our feet on the ground and let's keep moving forward.
"I think we feel we matched them in most areas of the game at least, outdid them in some, particularly in some of the forward exchanges."
Replacements: Foster for Dollman (63), Barrett for Thomas (74), Moon for Sturgess (65), Clark for Whitehead (65), Budgen for Tui (66), Muldowney for Short (74), White for Phillips (59).
