Toby Flood returned to kick 24 points as Leicester extended their lead at the top of the Premiership with victory over bottom side Worcester.

The fly-half, one of four Tigers back from Six Nations international duty, converted first-half tries from Jeremy Staunton and scrum-half Ben Youngs.

He added 18 points with six penalties before converting substitute James Grindal's try in the final minute.

Willie Walker kicked all 18 of Worcester's points from six penalties.

The hosts had only trailed by a single point at half-time, but the league leaders took complete control after the interval, scoring 26 points to record their biggest away win of the season.

The victory extends Leicester's lead to four points over Northampton at the top of the Premiership table, although Saints have two games in hand over the Tigers.

Walker had given the Warriors the lead with a penalty after seven minutes, but full-back Jeremy Staunton put Leicester in front with a well-worked try in the 13th minute.

Flood added the extras, along with a penalty, but six points from Walker's boot put the hosts back in front at 12-10.

However, Flood ensured Leicester maintained a slim advantage just before half-time with his second penalty following a high tackle on centre Anthony Allen.

Both number 10s exchanged further penalties, but Leicester soon began to dominate, with Youngs finishing off an enterprising 30-metre run.

Flood added three further penalties and rounded off an impressive display when Grindal - a replacement for Youngs - burst through a number of weak tackles to touch down, converting in the final minute.

Worcester director of rugby Mike Ruddock:
"They capitalised on our ill-discipline. For 60 minutes, there was nothing really in it and I thought we played all the rugby in the first half.

"We really forced Leicester to ask a lot of themselves and we felt confident at half-time, but they turned the screw in the end and punished us.

"They put a lot of pressure on our lineout, which hurt us, and we also came up against our usual stumbling block of giving away too many penalties.

"We put pressure on ourselves with the amount of penalties we gave away."

Leicester head coach Richard Cockerill:
"We were probably a bit fortunate to be up at half-time. Worcester though, have got some good players and they are not a bad side.

"We are another step in the right direction. We don't want to limp to the line - we want to finish well and try to take some momentum on from that.

"Maybe the scoreline flattered us a little bit, but the way we kept the pressure on them was really good."
