Noah Cato touches down for the second Saracens try
League leaders Saracens endured a late revival by Bath to maintain their 100% start to the season.
First-half tries by Andy Saull and Noah Cato put Sarries ahead before Michael Claassens scored for Bath, but Ryan Davis's conversion miss proved costly.
Sarries' seventh straight win is the best start by any team since Newcastle won their first 12 matches in 1997/98, and went on to win the title.
But Bath, who have won only one game in seven, remain second from bottom.
Saull scored the opening try after good work by hooker Schalk Brits, before Davis kicked Bath onto the scoreboard.
Cato extended the advantage just before half-time when Bath were down to 14 men, with Tom Cheeseman in the sin-bin, as the Bath player wriggled out of a David Flatman challenge to score.
Jack Cuthbert missed several good kicking chances for Bath before Cato wasted a great chance for Saracens, dropping Saull's pass when a try looked likely.
Bath closed the gap through Claassens' try when it was Saracens' turn to be down to 14 men, after substitute prop Rhys Gill was yellow carded.
But Davis missed the conversion and the visitors managed to hang on for victory through nine minutes of injury time.
Bath forwards coach Martin Haag told BBC Radio Bristol:
"It's the fifth game this year that we've lost by two points and we're not a million miles away and the effort to bounce back from last week was great.
"There are not a lot of teams, unfortunately, in the Premiership that play a lot of rugby. There are a lot of teams that would prefer to defend, defend and then kick out.
"To be fair to Saracens they are very good at it and they were never going to let us score and we need to work on turning the pressure into points and start winning games."
Saracens coach Brendan Venter:
"That game could have gone either way, but whatever the result, it wouldn't have changed how courageous our approach was.
"Everything that could have gone wrong did go wrong in the second half, but the guys kept going. It was courage and determination - they fought it out.
"The moment you look ahead, you cannot see the stumbling blocks and you fall flat on your face."
