Turner-Hall was set for promotion from the Saxons squad

Harlequins centre Jordan Turner-Hall has been ruled out of England's autumn Test series after being told he requires surgery on a shoulder injury.

The 21-year-old suffered a tear to the tissue in his shoulder joint against Saracens at the weekend and will have an operation on Monday.

He is expected to be out of action for three to four months.

Turner-Hall had been one of the leading candidates to replace the injured Riki Flutey in the November Tests.

England will play Australia on 7 November with Argentina and New Zealand coming to Twickenham on the next two weekends.

Turner-Hall's injury is the latest in a series of setbacks for manager Martin Johnson ahead of the series.

Flutey aggravated a long-standing shoulder injury in his debut for French side Brive and will be out for three months.

Leicester duo Toby Flood and Sam Vesty, who can both play at inside centre, are also on the injured list, leaving Northampton's Shane Geraghty as the main contender to start at 12 for England against the Wallabies.

Full-back Delon Armitage is also out of the Test series with a dislocated shoulder although England skipper Steve Borthwick has been passed fit to play after a scan revealed he sprained rib cartilage playing for Saracens against Harlequins.

Turner-Hall, who made his senior international debut in the non-cap game against the Barbarians in May, will miss his club's first four Heineken Cup pool fixtures - against the Blues, Toulouse and the back-to-back matches with Sale just before Christmas.
