England return to World Cup base

Johnson wants to return to England's former headquarters

England have announced they will return to their pre-2003 World Cup training base during the managerial reign of Martin Johnson.

Johnson will take his squad to Pennyhill Park Hotel in Surrey.

England have prepared at Loughborough University, Bisham Abbey and the University of Bath in recent times.

Pennyhill Park was where England, under then coach Sir Clive Woodward and with Johnson as captain, plotted their World Cup win in Australia five years ago.

Johnson said: "Pennyhill ticks all the right boxes. It has a resurfaced pitch and great training and recovery facilities, including a swimming pool."

England will use the facility until 2012, starting as they prepare for November's fixtures against the Pacific Islanders, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand.
