Wasps (23) 29 Try: Ibanez, Waldouck Pens: Walder (4) Cons: Walder (2) Drop Goals: Walder
Harlequins (10) 25 Try: Luscombe, Monye, Guest Pens: Jarvis (2) Cons: Jarvis, Malone Dave Walder replaced Danny Cipriani in and racked up 19 points as Wasps saw off a late rally by Harlequins to hold on for victory at Adams Park. Walder - at fly-half as Cipriani was on the bench after being left out by England - did not miss a kick. Dominic Waldouck's try and a Walder drop goal put Wasps on top before Ugo Monye's 60-yard run gave Wasps a scare. Cipriani came on for the last 20 minutes at full-back, sporting a black eye, and had only a few touches.
Wasps director of rugby Ian McGeechan on Cipriani: "He wanted to just show that when he has his rugby kit on he has got a lot to offer. "We feel it could probably have been dealt with more sensitively. To take effectively his first cap away is a big call." Coach Shaun Edwards: "The crowd showed what they think of [Cipriani]. He got a hero's welcome." Harlequins director of rugby Dean Richards: "Not many sides come to Wasps and have the opportunities to win, but we did. There's a good spirit in the camp. "Either side of half-time, they slowed the ball down and we were not getting assistance from the referee. "I have no qualms about the decision-making at the end. We had three tries. Sometimes it comes off and sometimes it doesn't."
