Northampton secure Sale's Foden

Northampton have continued their recruitment drive for next season by completing the signing of Sale and England Sevens scrum-half Ben Foden.

Saints have already recruited Foden's Sale colleague Chris Mayor, in addition to Ulster back-row forward Roger Wilson and London Irish centre Nils Mordt.

Northampton are set to make an immediate Premiership return after being relegated last year.

Foden, 22, has played full-back this term but is primarily a scrum-half.

606: DEBATE

"We are naturally disappointed to lose a player of Ben's ability to another club," said Sale chief executive James Jennings.

"Ben has come through the ranks at Sale Sharks, and he sees his future playing in the scrum-half position.

"But [Sale coach] Philippe Saint-Andre and several other notables in the game believe that since Ben moved to full-back at the start of this season he may have been involved in the Six Nations had he not damaged his shoulder playing sevens in South Africa."
