Referee David Pearson confirmed he called off Wasps' Premiership match
with Sale because the pitch at Adams Park had begun to freeze. Around 7,000 fans at the ground were told the tie was postponed five minutes before the scheduled 1715 GMT kick-off.
Pearson told BBC London: "We took both captains and coaches to the problem side of the pitch and everyone decided that side wasn't 100 per cent safe.
"If someone was to stop running, it would have been like Torvill and Dean."
