Grewcock and Bath eventually out-muscled London Irish | London Irish (11) 20 Tries: Paice Pens: Hickey (5)
Bath (7) 22 Tries: Davey, Browne, Grewcock Pens: Berne Cons: Berne, Brown A late Danny Grewcock try earned Bath victory at London Irish as they battled back to overturn a 17-10 deficit. Debutant fly-half Eoghan Hickey kicked five penalties and David Paice went over as Irish seemingly took control. Bath also lost James Scaysbrook, Peter Dixon and Aaron Jarvis to injuries in the first 48 minutes, but their pack slowly turned the tables on the hosts. Dan Browne and Ian Davey tries and a Shaun Berne penalty kept them in it before Grewcock finally put them ahead. London Irish director of rugby Brian Smith: "It was disappointing the way the game was refereed. There was a try scored when Bath were not even claiming a try. "Bath turned up and played and it was a tremendous game but we are gutted because I thought the referee was a bit over-zealous." Bath head coach Steve Meehan:
"There was no controversy. It was a try. The officials are there doing their job. "There were decisions that went against us too during the match but that's life. He refereed it the way we expected him it."
